Materials & specification

Everything on this page is generated from the same model the drawings and the renders come from, so it cannot disagree with them. Dimensions are from a laser survey of the existing room — the joiner measures the room again after demolition, and the scribe filler at the east end is the piece that absorbs whatever is found.

polytec Thermolaminated

There is no polytec colour code. Their colour pages carry no SKU, item code or order code — the colour name plus the finish is the identifier, and that is how their own sample cart and brochures refer to them. The codes that do exist are the edge mould and the door style number. A door here is fully specified as
polytec Thermolaminated / <Colour> <Finish> / Style <n> / <EM> / <t>mm.

Door profile, by direction

All options share the same cabinets, layout and same appliances. They differ in colour and in the door profile on one face — the island's table side, which is what reads as furniture from the dining room. Everything else in every direction is the flat default.

Maximum door size 3050mm high × 1200mm wide. 7-year limited warranty on polytec manufactured doors.

Two things not to normalise away.
1. The fluted doors are 21mm. polytec make Style 6 in 21mm only, so in that direction the island's table-side doors are 21mm while every other front is 18mm. That is deliberate and drawn that way — please price it.
2. Contour's feature lines will not align across doors of different widths — polytec say so themselves. The island's table side is 1000 + 900 + 1000, so the doors are 500, 500, 450, 450, 500, 500 and the staves step at the middle bay. Either accept it, or make the three bays equal at 966/967 so all six doors match. Please quote as drawn and flag it.
02 · Colour

One colour scheme per direction

All options share identical joinery and differ only in finish. Price whichever is chosen; the cabinet work is the same in all five. Every colour below is polytec Thermolaminated in a matt finish.

Kick height160mm derived: 900 bench − 20 top − 720 cabinet
Finished bench height900mm
ConstructionFrameless (European / 32mm). Not face-framed.
720 or 740 — and it changes one thing. The model is drawn at a 720 cabinet height because that is what a modular supplier builds; a custom cabinet maker can do 740. The difference is not cosmetic: at 740 the kick drops to 140 and there is 20mm more height under the sink bowl — 522mm instead of 502mm. That is the entire question of whether the filtered-water unit fits under the sink rather than taking a cabinet of its own. Please quote 720, and note separately what 740 would cost. If 740 is quoted, every drawer front height changes with it.

Widths are finished module widths. X1 is a scribe filler, not a cabinet — supplied oversize and cut to the wall on site.

Benchtop and splashback

Specification
Benchtop thickness20mm slab, 20mm at the visible edge. A 40mm look is normally the same slab with a 20mm mitred return — state which you are quoting.
Bench height900mm to the top of the stone. 160 kick + 720 carcass = 880mm of cabinet, and the stone sits on top. A thicker slab raises the bench, it does not shorten the cabinets — so the dishwasher niche and the clearance under the sink bowl are the same at 20, 30 or 40mm.
Overhang20mm past the door face
LengthsIsland top 2940 (2900 carcass + 20mm each end). Back benchtop 2150 in one piece, between the fridge tower and the oven tower. No other horizontal stone.
Cut-outsUndermount sink, 50mm tap hole for the filtered-water unit, induction hob. Three demanding cuts — state the edge treatment at each.
EndsWaterfall to the floor is an option, not settled — price plain, one end and both ends separately. A waterfall adds roughly 1100 × 900 of slab per end plus a mitred joint, and the veining must run continuously round the corner.
SplashbackToughened glass. Not part of the polytec specification — separate trade.

The stone — three candidates, not yet chosen

All three are 20mm and take the same fabrication. Quote whichever you supply, and say which you are quoting.

CandidateWhat it changes
Vadara Sereno Bianco V881Near-white with fine grey hairline veining. The quietest of the three and the current front-runner. Nominal jumbo slab 3200 × 1600 — confirm.
Vadara Monteserro V875Warm grey and taupe banding, more movement. Same slab format. Vein matching at any mitre is a real line item on this one.
Natural stone — name to confirmA slab seen at the yard, grey-white with strong charcoal veining. Natural stone is bought by the slab: it needs reserving, marking up before cutting, sealing at installation and resealing after. At 2900 × 2000 it is 40mm short of the 2940 island top on its own, so this job takes two slabs — ask for consecutive slabs from the same block.
Templating is taken from the installed cabinets, never from these drawings. The benchtop is ordered after the cabinetry is in, which is why its lead time sits after cabinet installation and not in parallel with it.
07 · Not cabinet work

Licensed trades

Listed so a cabinet quote is not assumed to include them. In Queensland each of these is licensed work and carries its own certificate.

  • Plumbing — licensed plumber. Relocating or replacing a sink or dishwasher, or altering hot/cold supply, is notifiable work under the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018. Form 4 lodged with QBCC within 10 days.
  • Electrical — licensed electrician for new circuits, GPOs, rangehood wiring and under-cabinet lighting.
  • Gas — not applicable. The cooktop is induction.
Every compliance certificate must be issued before the cabinetry closes up the pipework. The alternative is pulling out installed cabinets.

What is not settled

Stated plainly so a quote can note them rather than assume them.

  • Cabinet height 720 or 740 — see above. Quote 720; price 740 separately.
  • The filtered-water unit under the sink. Awaiting the manufacturer on a clearance figure. If it cannot go under the sink it takes a cabinet of its own and the drawer bank loses that width.
  • Fluted door profile depth — polytec state their published cross sections are not to scale, so the depth in the renders is a modelling figure, not a specification. Confirm the actual Cove 25 profile.
  • Bin unit and small-appliance heights — derived, not from published dimensions. Confirm before ordering.
No costs appear anywhere on this page. Any figure would be invented, and an invented figure in a quote pack is worse than none.
